When Shakespeare asked that what's in a name, he probably didn't
forecast the announcement of the title of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jab
Tak Hai Jaan.
With the name of the YRF production coming out, there has been immense buzz about the accompanying poem, penned by Aditya Chopra.
With the name of the YRF production coming out, there has been immense buzz about the accompanying poem, penned by Aditya Chopra.
The poem reads:
Shah Rukh Khan in a stubble, sitting by the hills and writing poetry- not many things can match up to this setting.
He tweeted, "“Will do my own english translation of the poem & update. Am glad most liked the title...i am getting used to it myself...Jab Tak Hai JAAN..”
King Khan wasn't satisfied with just one. Within no time, he gathered another English translation and it was equally well-received on Twitter.
He also asked his followers to translate the poem into their lagugages, guranteeing a retweet for their translations. “Send me translations in your language and i will retweet it for others to read...aditya chopra's verses of love,” he tweeted.
Very soon his Twitter wall was flocked by translations in all languages one can imagine.
There was a gala of languages on his wall, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Pashto, Farsi, Russian, Turkish, Gujarati, Urdu, Italian, Japanese, Dari, Portuguese, Kannada, Indonesian, Hungarian, Sindhi, Swedish- tweeple translated them into all.
Needless to say, Shah Rukh Khan's charisma and star appeal is universal in nature and transcends the boundaries of language, race and ethnicity.

"Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyaan
Teri hansi ki beparwa gustaakhiyaan
Teri zulfon ki lehrati angdaaiyaan
Nahi bhoolunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, Jab tak hai jaan
Tera haath se haath chodna
Tera saayon ka rukh modna
Tera palat ke phir na dekhna
Nahin maaf karoonga main
Jab tak hai jaan, Jab tak hai jaan"
Shah Rukh Khan posted two versions of his translation on Twitter. What
made this act of writing even more interesting was the background

ReplyDeleteBONE TOMAHAWK
ReplyDeleteWhatever you’re doing right now probably isn't as important as watching this movie. It is customarily routine for me to keep a watchful eye on interesting films in some of my favorite genres: Horror and Westerns. I think we can all raise a guilty hand to being some form of genre fan boy or girl. Neglecting a shitty flick for a great set or setting- for the flavor of the story alone. But we need those bad movies don't we? They are just as important as the good ones because, of course, they elevate the great films and show us what 'good' is supposed to look like.
